The Month of May
Welcome to May!
As soil temps start to rise, your lawn growth should be in full swing. The grass will be growing fast, and cutting frequency should be every 5-7 days. This is the last month to trim your lawn tightly if you like a closer cut, so make the most of it.
Here in the PNW the soil should still be moist and rainfall frequent, so only water if you’ve noticed a stretch of dry weather longer than 7 or so days.

Begin a consistent watering schedule as the rain slows to a stop. Raise your mower height to 3.5”, and consider leaving the clippings to return the nutrients and moisture back into the soil.
Remeber to water early in the morning or late at night! If your lawn starts lacking vibrancy, apply a small amount of liquid, fast acting lawn feed to give it a little extra boost.

Happy July!
In this month your lawn growth will have started slowing down with the heat, and you shouldn’t have to mow as frequently.
Keep an eye out for fungus as the humidity rises. If you’ve opted not to water during prolonged dry periods, remember not to apply any liquid fertilizers that can scorch your lawn.

The Month of August
Welcome to August!
This month is very similar to July in terms of lawn care: keep the mower setting high and water deeply once per week as needed.
If you’ve chosen to water consistently and your grass can tolerate it, August is the last month to apply a fast acting summer fertilizer. Otherwise, get a jump on the season with slow release nitrogen fertilizer and organic lawn products after at least 2 weeks of consistent watering.
